Clear Braces

Ideal For Adults & Teens! Must Be A Candidate For Invisalign Treatment

I will be making this office my permanent dentist and feel confident that they are taking COVID seriously and working to create a comfortable environment for their patients.

Dr. Emily, her assistant Rhonda and hygienist Caitlin completely understand my anxiety and they work to make sure I am comfortable. The fact that all the work (partial crown) was done in one visit is awesome. I highly recommend this practice!

Dr. Marlow and Peyton are both very professional and skillful. After a long process of preparing four implants, everything is in order and working out well.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign consists of 18-30 custom made trays. These trays are made for your individual mouth and teeth structure. You wear each tray for approximately two weeks. Therefore, treatment can last from six months to two years. Treatment can take longer than traditional braces because the trays gradually move your teeth into their best positions. However, they are generally more comfortable and tend to be less noticeable than most oral appliances.

Clear aligner treatment sometimes takes longer than traditional braces. Also, it is not a good fit for severe cases or extreme malocclusions. To get started your dentist takes an impression of your teeth and an x-ray. These images and casts of your teeth help your dentist discover if this treatment is right for you. If you are a candidate for clear aligners your trays are created for your current teeth structure, to your perfect alignment, and every step in between.  Your Ann Arbor Smiles Dentist can recommend which treatment is best for you.

Clear Aligners Or Braces

Invisalign® or Clear Aligners

  • Translucent trays make them nearly invisible
  • Considerably smoother than traditional braces
  • Because they are removable, they make it easier to clean your teeth and eat the foods you love

Traditional Braces

  • Made of brackets and wires
  • Wires and brackets can be uncomfortable
  • Brushing and flossing requires extra time and care
  • Avoid certain foods. You may break a bracket or food can get stuck.

Veneers are also an alternate option to Invisalign, which can take less time.  However, veneers require removal of a portion of the tooth and are an irreversible procedure.

Please talk to your insurance company to see if you already qualify for braces or Invisalign. If your dental plan already covers orthodontic care you may also qualify for partial or full coverage of an Invisalign treatment. Speak with your insurance provider to determine the extent of your coverage.

Dr. Patrick DiDonato

Originally born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Patrick DiDonato is excited to return and join the Ann Arbor Smiles team. Dentistry was a natural choice when he realized it combined his detailed craftsmanship, science, and his compassion for others.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry where he was proud to be the Co-Chairman of Victors for Veterans – an innovative program to provide free, comprehensive dentistry to veterans living below twice the poverty level in northern Michigan. One of his greatest role models is his late grandfather who was a navigator in World War II. Patrick was looking for an opportunity to give back his time in service of others and has multiple veterans in his family, so Victors for Veterans was a natural fit.

Dr. Patrick enjoys being able to help patients regain their oral function, health, and a confident smile. Within dentistry he takes particular interest in restorative dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, and integrating the latest dental technology to provide his patients with the proper care they need, want, and deserve. He sees dentistry as an extension of his Christian faith to treat patients as he would want to be treated.

Prior to dental school, he graduated summa cum laude from Adrian College in 2013 with a B.A. in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry.

Inspired by St. Mother Teresa, his dental motto is: Do small things with great smiles! In his spare time, Dr. Patrick enjoys exercising, carpentry, making wine, archery, and spending time with his large family.

Helping you not only see, but also feel the benefits of a healthy, functional smile brings him great joy, but witnessing how happy it makes you feel is his greatest reward. Dr. Ault knows that most people don’t enjoy going to the dentist and his aim is to change that. He hopes to develop trusting relationships where you enjoy your visits and even look forward to them because you know how important they are to your overall health and the beauty of your smile.
